Throughout the year we offer a full range of climbing courses, leading to climbing qualifications. For past academy students follow on courses that may be of interest include:
* Climbing Wall Award Abseil Module Assessment
Climbing Wall Leading Award Training
The award covers the skills needed to teach lead climbing on indoor and
outdoor artificial walls. The Single Pitch Award or Climbing Wall award
are required in order to register for this award, along with 50 lead
climbs (including some at French 6a) and logged sessions working as an
SPA/CWA.
This one day course will focus on the safety and
coaching elements of teaching leading and covers the following topics:
Technical competence
Equipment
Belaying
Personal climbing skills
The Climbing Wall Environment
Using walls
Etiquette
Supervision
Planning
Managing novice leaders
Movement skills
Bring your logbook to the course fully completed with your climbing experience and qualifications.
To register for the scheme you must have completed the CWA or SPA award and have led a minimum of 40 routes on at least 3 different walls, and belayed a leader on a minimum of forty climbs. At least a quarter of those routes led must be at a grade of French 6a or above. You must also have logged 20 indoor sessions as a CWA or SPA holder.
