Swift water Rescue Technician Unit 1 (SRT Unit 1)
The swift water rescue course is aimed at rescue professionals, emergency services, and Professional River and raft guides, and is the bench mark standard in many parts of the world as the essential qualification. A four day intensive course trains personnel in suitable techniques to undertake rescues in a swift water environment. Using a mixture of theory and practical sessions, the emphasis of the course is to gain enough practical experience to feel confident in and around this environment.

White Water Rescue Technician (WRT)
This course is recognised as an alternative to the BCU White Water Safety & Rescue Course (required for the BCU 4 star) and the Advanced WWSR course (required for the 5 star award).
A new 3 day course from Rescue 3, aimed specifically at outdoor professionals such as kayakers and river guides. The course expects participants to have previous river knowledge and experience, allowing more time to concentrate on developing effective rescue skills in a white water environment. This course is set to become the bench mark rescue course for river professionals worldwide.
This course is also run annually each Autumn in Nepal.

Awareness Water Rescue - 1 day
A one day classroom based course, designed to provide personnel who may be working near water with sufficient knowledge to be aware of the hazards created by this environment, and develop an understanding of water rescue techniques, such as teachers, mountain leaders etc and is valid for 3 years.

Basic Water Rescuer - 1 day
Basic Water Rescuer is a one day course designed for personnel who may be deployed to a basic (still) water environment where they may be required to undertake rescues and is valid for 3 years.
Swift Water Rescue First Responder – 2 day
This swift water rescue training course is designed for personnel deployed or called to a swift water environment but not necessarily undertaking rescue work themselves, such as the police, water bailiffs etc and is valid for 3 years.

Rescues from Vehicles in Water (RVW)
This specialist two day workshop for Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Technicians explores the skills required to deal with rescues from vehicles in water. Using a purpose-designed in-water training vehicle in a controllable water flow, the course investigates vehicle behaviour and stabilization in water as well as access techniques and casualty extrication.
Course content includes:
- Theory input on in-water vehicle behaviour and hazard assessment
- Hands on practical exercises using in-water training vehicle including:
- Vehicle stabilisation
- Access techniques
- Casualty extrication techniques
Night time vehicle rescue exercise may also be included if conditions are suitable
Course pre-requisites
Current Rescue 3 SRT certification or alternative Defra Module 3 compliant certification.
This course can be used to revalidate the existing Rescue 3 SRT certification.

Rescue Boat Operator (RBO)
The Rescue Boat Operator course is suitable for people with little or no powerboat experience who wish to attain an inland boat handling and rescue boat capability on flat or slow moving water.

Flood Rescue Boat Operator (FRBO)
Flood Rescue Boat OperatorThe Flood Rescue Boat Operator training course is a 3-day course which incorporates all elements of the RBO course and adds flood rescue capability. It is ideal for any emergency service personnel who may attend flood events with boats for low level casualty and victim recovery from a flood or slow moving water environment.
Course pre-requisites:
Swiftwater and Flood First Responder or alternative Defra module 2 qualification
Course Length:
3 days, this course can also be run as a 1-day module for those who already hold the RBO qualification or RYA powerboating level 2.

Closed courses can be arranged by the Old Vicarage Adventure Centre for organisations i.e. emergency services, environment agencies, mountain rescue teams etc, based on a minimum of 4 people. Since we supply everything necessary to complete these courses i.e. boats, dry suits, helmets etc. we can administer them on-site, at your venue, tailored to your specific needs or here at the centre.

UK Emergency Services
The Rescue 3 scheme has a large take up amongst the UK emergency services and voluntary rescue sector. The scheme reflects the needs and procedures set out by The Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) and the fire service manual training standards for inland water operations (module 1-5). All rescue 3 courses are also recognised within the Fire Service team typing model and is therefore perfect for benchmarking across teams and services.

The package can be offered for industrial safety cover for example on construction sites on or around water or leisure events e.g. regattas, adventure races, or for event organisers or film crews requiring water boat safety.
