A Passion for Travel & The Outdoors – Ceri

Ceri Maynard claims her spell on Live the Adventure’s Outdoor Instructor Training Academy course helped her ‘fall in love again’ with Wales. The 23-year-old undertook the intensive three month outdoor instructor course after returning from her travels last year. Ceri had spent eight months in South Africa, before trips to Ibiza, Australia and Borneo – a far cry from her home city of Cardiff. But she found that the Training Academy not only satisfied her zest for travelling, but also rekindled her passion for her homeland

“I absolutely loved the training course – I’d recommend it to anyone,” she said. “The best thing was about it was all the travelling and activities we did. I’ve been used to do a lot of travelling around the world in recent years but Live the Adventure was wonderful because it allowed me to travel a lot but also helped me rediscover my love for Wales. I thought I really knew north Wales because my granddad is from there but I did a lot of kayaking, camping and climbing and got to see part of the country I’ve never seen before. I really did fall in love again with Wales.”

Since ‘graduating’ from the intensive outdoor instructor Academy course, Ceri has gone onto freelance – working at the Cardiff International White Water Centre, the Summit Centre and Boulders.
She specialises in paddlesport coaching and climbing sessions. It wasn’t just the exhilaration of action sports that made her warm to Live The Adventure.

“I thought the staff and instructors were inspiration and wonderful,” she continued. “When I looked into the intensive outdoor instructor course I thought it would be enjoyable and it was – it was awesome. But I also have to thank Ant Eddies Davies too. While I was on the course, my granddad fell ill so I spent a lot of time in north Wales. Ant was very supportive and understanding, which I hugely appreciate. I would have no qualms about recommending Live The Adventure’s Outdoor Instructor Training Academy to anyone. It’s made a big difference to my life.”
